A controversy involving the city attorney of a Ventura County community is apparently over, following the resignation of the official.
The Simi Valley City Council has been debating what to do about the situation involving Marjorie Baxter.
The council had been looking at complaints against Baxter filed with the city’s Human Resources Department, and there was also unhappiness over the handing of an insurance settlement.
Last night, the council announced Baxter has resigned.
Baxter had been with the city for more than 30 years.
She had been City Attorney for a little over a year.
Deputy City Attorney Sonia Hehir has been appointed as the acting City Attorney, while the city looks to hire an interim City Attorney, and launch a search for a permanent replacement.
