The hot weather during the last few weeks as been uncomfortable for some, but for some fish in a Central Coast lake, it’s apparently been fatal.
Hundreds of dead fish were found at Atascadero Lake this morning.
City officials think the hot weather contributed to low water levels, and an algae bloom in the lake, which reduced its oxygen supply, killing some the fish.
The City added some pumps to the lake earlier this summer to help aerate it, and have put in more to help the remaining fish.
City of Atascadero crews were busy at the lake today, removing dead fish.
