Santa Barbara County Supervisors today will consider approving a contract with a company to oversee construction of the county’s new North County Jail.
Kitchell/CEM would provide commissioning services for the project.
Supervisors will also consider an agreement with the state which officials say will help protect the county financially if for some reason the state fails to issue bonds for the project.
The state is picking up some $80 million of the projected $96 million dollar price tag for the project. The project is expected to help ease decades of county jail overcrowding.
