Santa Barbara County Forklift Operator Charged With Vehicular Manslaughter For Crash Which Killed Two, Injured Two

A Santa Barbara County man is facing vehicular manslaughter, DUI, and other charges in connection with a crash in which the forklift he was driving turned in front of an oncoming car.

Daniel Garcia Castillo was driving a fork lift on Philbric Road August 29th when he tried to make a left turn.  Prosecutors say he turned into the path of an oncoming car, causing a crash which killed the car’s driver and a passenger, and injured two other passengers.

The 37 year old Santa Maria man has been charged with two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, two counts of causing great bodily injury while driving under the influence, as well as other additional related charges.
