Tests Scheduled For San Luis Obispo County Emergency Warning Systems

There’s going to be some blaring horns in parts of San Luis Obispo County this weekend, but it’s just a part of a major test.

PG & E will conduct its annual test of its warning siren system used to alert residents of a major emergency in the county, including the possibility of one at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant.

The sirens will be triggered at noon, and again at 12:30 Saturday to insure they are in proper working order.

There are more than 130 sirens in the warning system, which stretches from Nipomo to Cayucos.

The idea is that when the warnings sound, you should tune into your local radio, or TV station for information

A reverse 911 system will also be tested in the county on Saturday, again checking to insure the system is in proper working order.
