South Coast Public Works Official Announces Retirement Plans

A top public works official on the South Coast has announced her retirement.

City of Santa Barbara Public Works Director Christine Anderson says she’ll step down on November 1st.

Anderson has worked for four decades as a public works executive in the Western United States.

Before joining the City of Santa Barbara in 2008, she served as Public Works Director for the City of Long Beach, and the City of Eugene, Oregon.

She current oversees Santa Barbara’s single largest municipal department, with a $116 million dollar budget, and nearly 300 employees.

The City is planning to launch a nationwide search to find a successor.
