A community campaign try to save a dilapidated pier on the Central Coast has raised more than $65,000.
The Cayucos Pier is in such bad condition that only half of it is now open, and the end of it was closed in July for safety reasons.
More than a dozen pilings are missing, or damaged.
The state owns the pier, and San Luis Obispo County handles basic maintenance, but there is no money readily available for the major repairs which experts say are needed.
The price tag for a rebuild is estimated to be in the two million dollar range.
Members of the community have started a fundraising campaign to raise money for the effort.
