Santa Barbara’s longtime City Attorney has announced he will retire.
Stephen Wiley has been with the city for more than 30 years. He’s worked on a number of major city projects, with perhaps the biggest being the redevelopment project to build the Paseo Nuevo Shopping Center in the 1980′s.
While Wiley is retiring from public service, he’s still going to be practicing law. He’s planning to go into private practice in Santa Barbara.
City officials say they are planning a nationwide recruiting effort to fill the post, which includes overseeing a staff of five attorneys.
