A San Luis Obispo County man who was one of President Reagan’s most trusted advisors has died.
William Clark died over the weekend at his ranch near Paso Robles, following a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Clark grew up in Ventura County, where his father served as Oxnard’s Police Chief.
He became an attorney, volunteering in Ronald Reagan’s gubernatorial campaign. After Reagan was elected, Clark worked for him in several capacities, eventually becoming a State Supreme Court Justice.
When Reagan was elected president, Clark worked for him as Deputy Secretary of State, National Security Advisor, and Secretary Of the Interior.
Clark was 81 years old.
