The State Transportation Commission has approved $487 million dollars for 82 construction projects statewide, including two in Santa Barbara County.

The project funding includes $17 million dollars to replaces bridges, and concrete culverts around the 101 Freeway-Fairview Avenue interchange in Goleta, to try to reduce roadway flooding in the area.

Also funded is a million dollar project to fund landscaping, and maintain it for a three year period around the new Highway 101-Union Valley Parkway interchange in Santa Maria.

The money is coming from state and federal transportation funds, as well as from Proposition 1B, a transportation bond approved by California’s voters in 2006.
