Oxnard Man Being Held For One Murder Now Charged With Second

Posted on Thursday, August 8, 2013 2:57pm

An Oxnard man already in custody for one gang related killing has been re-arrested for a second slaying.

Oxnard Police believe Jorge Cervantes was one of four men involved with the January, 2009 killing of Alfredo Vargas.  The 19 year old man was arrested last April for that slaying.

Now, Cervantes  has been indicted, and arrested for the January, 2009 killing of Ramiro Huerto. The Oxnard man was killed just outside of his apartment, as he was walking home from a store.  Detectives believe this killing was also gang related, committed on behalf of the Lemonwood Chiques street gang.

Investigators say the arrests in connection with the two murders are the result of a task force created last year to try to solve a series of gang related homicides.
