Ventura County Health Care Plan Opts Out Of Covered California

Posted on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 4:08pm

Ventura County’s health care plan has opted out of plans to offer coverage under the statewide California Covered program in 2014.

County Health Care Agency officials say after analyzing enrollment projections, start up costs, and other factors, they backed off their original plans, and decided to wait until 2015.

The Ventura County Health Care Plan currently offers coverage to county employees, and some residents in certain programs.

Ventura County residents who purchase Blue Shield of California, or Anthem Blue Cross through Covered California will have access to the Ventura County Medical Center System, which includes two hospitals and more than 30 clinics.
