Ventura and Santa Barbara County schools are in the running for $7.8 million dollars in funding for energy efficiency projects.
The funding comes from last year’s passage of Proposition 39. The money can be used for projects like improve lighting, heating, and cooling, and will be allocated to school districts based on attendance, and need. It’s estimated Oxnard School District will get the most money, at $940,000, with the Oxnard High School District getting $860,000, the Goleta School District $190,000, and the Santa Barbara School District $50,000.
More than three dozen districts in the two counties are expected to get funding for the energy projects through Proposition 39.
