Human remains found in the wreckage of a vehicle in the Santa Ynez Valley have been positively identified as that of a Santa Barbara man who disappeared in March of 2012.

A Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department helicopter crew noticed the vehicle in the bottom of a brush recovered ravine off of Highway 154, and Painted Cave Road July 4th.  The Coroner’s Office now says the remains found inside are that of Timothy Goodwin.  The wreckage of the truck was immediately linked to the missing 55 year old man, but authorities wanted to wait until they had a solid forensic link before making a positive identification of the remains.

Department officials say the death is under investigation, and that they aren’t releasing any further details at this time.
