Some burglars in Ventura County are using using their victims own technology to get access to their homes.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department says there’s been a rash of burglaries involving stolen garage remotes. Detectives say the burglars are taking the remotes which are often in plain sight, like on visors, and then accessing homes.
Investigators say homes in Camarillo, Moorpark, Thousand Oaks, and some unincorporated areas have been targeted with stolen remotes. They say when you park your vehicle, you should make sure you don’t leave your remote in plain view, and double check that the vehicle is locked.
