Man Authorities Say Cut Off Electronic Tracking Device Now Behind Bars In Santa Barbara County

Posted on Thursday, July 18, 2013 12:53am

A Santa Barbara man on probation who authorities say cut off his electronic monitoring device, and disappeared is back behind bars.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department officials say Manuel Brian Aceves removed his tracking device about two weeks ago.

Just before noon yesterday, authorities received a tip today that the 40 year old man was at a building on the 800 block of Cacique Street.

Deputies, along with Santa Barbara police and probation department officers went to the scene.  They say when they tried to contact Aceves, he tried to flee, but was arrested after a short foot chase.

He was charged with felony vandalism for cutting off, and throwing away the device, as well as with felony evading, and delaying arrest.
