Some South Coast community clinics in financial crisis, and threatened with closure this month have received a big vote of community support.
More than a dozen foundations, as well as some individuals have stepped up with $600,000 in pledges to keep open the doors of the Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics, while a new financial plan is implemented.
Some 17,000 people with limited, or no insurance rely on the clinics, which allow people on limited incomes to pay on a sliding scale.
