A man is behind bars after police say he tried to commit a string of burglaries in Santa Maria early this morning.
Santa Maria Police say it started at around 5 this morning, when a man tried to get into the window of a bedroom in a home on the 200 block of South Oakley Street. The men fled when a woman in the home called 911.
A short time later, police say a man entered the bedroom of a home in a nearby home, but fled when he was confronted by one of the residents. Then a third homeowner reported someone in their backyard, who also fled when confronted.
Police say they spotted a man matching the suspect’s description walking on Main Street, and arrested Arthur Jackson of San Diego after two of the victims identified the 29 year old man as the burglar at their homes.
