Thousand Oaks City Council To Tackle Controversial Issue Of Indoor Marketplace

Posted on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 12:42am

Should a Ventura County community allow a huge empty building to be converted into a permanent indoor marketplace?

The Thousand Oaks City Council is set to tackle the controversial issue tonight.

A proposal calls for creating an 84,000 square foot marketplace on Corporate Center Drive, which could host more than 180 vendors.

Some opponents contend that it would be a permanent swap meet which would hurt the area’s property values.

But, backers of the plan have been meeting with nearby property owners, and homeowners to try to address concerns about issues like parking.
