Man Arrested After Woman Struck, and Killed By Vehicle In Ventura

Posted on Friday, July 5, 2013 5:32am

A Ventura man is behind bars, facing a gross vehicular manslaughter charge after police say he got involved in a domestic dispute, drove away, and then returned to the scene, and struck and killed a woman.

Investigators are still trying to piece together what happened.  Officers were called to the 1200 block of Halifax Court around 11 a.m. Wednesday by reports of a domestic dispute. When they reached the scene, they found a woman trapped under a vehicle with fatal injuries.

Witness told police 18-year-old Erik Lopez was involved in a domestic dispute with a 19 year old woman.  They say he left the scene in a vehicle, but then came back, and hit the 65 year old woman.  Detectives aren’t saying whether they think the woman was hit accidentally, or intentionally, but in additional to the manslaughter charge, Lopez was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, spousal battery, and child endangerment.
