San Luis Obispo High School Student One Of 20 Winners Of National Scholarship Competition

A San Luis Obispo high school student is one of 20 national winners of a four year, $10,000 annual scholarship from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation, and GE.

Emma Phillips just graduated from San Luis Obispo High School, and going to Brown University, where she plans to study neuroscience.

The Simi Valley based foundation, and the technology company have teamed up to award up to 200 scholarships over a ten year long period.

The students competing for the scholarships were judged on qualities like initiative, drive, and citizenship, and the winners were chosen from more than 11,000 applicants.
