The mystery behind a death in Ventura County continues to grow.
On June 23rd, Oxnard Police were called to the 400 block of West Hueneme Road by reports of an assault.
The victim told police he was punched in the face by another man, who then fled the scene.
As officers were investigating the 2 a.m. incident, they noticed another man on the ground.
Miguel Antonio Hernandez-Gomez was taken to a hospital, where he died the next day.
It was unclear as to whether he was also an assault victim.
Now, the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s office says autopsy results show the 26 year old Oxnard man wasn’t the victim of an attack.
Officials are waiting for more toxicology results before they make a ruling on the cause of death.
