Authorities are trying to determine what led to the death of a Ventura County Jail inmate, who was found unresponsive in his cell early Wednesday morning.
During routine cell checks at around one a.m., deputies at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility in Ventura noticed Roy Lee Jones didn’t appear to be breathing.
Deputies, and emergency personnel started CPR on the 70 year old Santa Barbara man, but were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at the jail.
It’s believed the death was from natural causes, and there were no signs of foul play, but an autopsy is still pending.
