Two veterans from Ventura County were honored by the State Assembly in Sacramento today.
Army veteran Jerry Olivas of Santa Paula, and Air Force veteran Anthony Volante of Port Hueneme were saluted as part of the sixth annual Veterans Recognition Luncheon.
Olivas was in the Army for two decades, and received a Purple Heart after being wounded in Vietnam.
Volante was a Brigadier General when he retired after four decades in the Air Force, and went on to serve as Mayor of Port Hueneme.
Democratic Assemblyman Das Williams of Santa Barbara, and Republican Assemblyman Jeff Gorrell of Camarillo selected the two local veterans being honored.
