A nearly century old section of highway on the South Coast has five times the number of accidents as similar areas around the state.
Now, Caltrans is proposing to do something about the Gaviota Curves, a section of the 101 where the highway goes from the Gaviota coastline inland towards Buellton.
It’s developed a plan to replace the pair of sharply angled curves with one longer, gradually curving one.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports the preliminary report for the four year, six million dollar project is now available for public review.
