Ventura County Approves New $1.8 Billion Dollar Budget

Posted on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 7:41am

Ventura County has a new $1.8 billion dollar budget for the upcoming
fiscal year.

After a day long hearing yesterday, and a public
hearing last night, County
 Supervisors approved a
spending plan which keeps the county solidly in the black, with the largest
reserves in years.

The county will even add hundreds of positions mostly
for social services, and health care to deal with skyrocketing caseloads, but
those jobs come with state, and federal funding to pay for them.

County leaders do say that future budget years will be
tougher, as they have to deal with the impacts of the high costs of employee
pensions.
