Two Brush Fires In Ventura Called Suspicious In Origin

Fire investigators are trying to find what was behind a pair of small, but potentially dangerous blazes in Ventura.

The first fire was discovered just before 10 last night, on a hillside above the 400 block of Cedar Avenue.  As firefighters were knocking down that small fire, a second was reported just 200 yards to the south.

The second fire got to within 50 feet of a home, but was quickly knocked down by Ventura firefighters.  Investigators aren’t talking about the details of the blazes, but say they were suspicious in origin.

No structures were damaged.
