The South Coast is home to a theater which is one of oldest in the state, and is both a local, and state historical landmark.
Santa Barbara’s Lobero Theater has hosted everyone from actors like Bela Lugosi, Tyrone Power, to musical greats like Vladimir Horowitz, Dave Brubeck and Charles Lloyd.
But…this week the legendary stage is going empty…and, it will stay that way for the next six months.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports that after more than two years of planning, and fundraising, work is underway on a major preservation and modernization project for the 600 plus seat theater.
