A community project this weekend is going to try to help restore the habitat for a section of creek in one of the South Coast’s most popular parks.
Volunteers will help restore the native vegetation along a part of Mission Creek, in Santa Barbara’s Oak Park.
Non-native English Ivy will be removed, and replaced with native plants.
Members of the AmeriCorps Watershed Stewards Project run by the city of Santa Barbara’s Creeks Division will take part in the project.
Volunteers are being asked to meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Oak Park tennis courts for the four hour project, and to wear comfortable shoes, and sun block.
