A challenge by an environmental group to Ventura County’s approval of some onshore gas, and oil drilling projects has been denied by the Ventura County Planning Commission.
Citizens for Responsible Oil and Gas appealed the County Planning Staff’s approval of nine new wells, and the renovation of two existing wells in the Upper Ojai Valley.
The group contends insufficient environmental review occurred, and appealed the staff decision to the Ventura County Planning Commission.
After a marathon, day long hearing, the commission rejected the appeal, agreeing with staff that sufficient review had occurred.
Opponents could appeal the decision to County Supervisors, but they haven’t decided yet whether they’ll continue their fight.
