Firefighters Still Focused On Full Containment Of Brush Fire In Los Padres National Forest, Northwest Of Santa Barbara

Posted on Thursday, May 30, 2013 12:21pm

Firefighters are continuing to make progress towards full containment of a nearly 2,000 acre brushfire burning in the Los Padres National Forest northwest of Santa Barbara.

There’s been very little growth during the last 24 hours with the White Fire, which is now 90% contained.

But, firefighters say with the blaze burning in rugged terrain, and with hotter weather in the forecast as we move towards the weekend, they aren’t taking efforts to fully contain the fire for granted.

The blaze started Monday afternoon, threatening scattered homes and recreational facilities in the area before burning east, into more isolated areas of the national forest.
