Posted on Monday, May 27, 2013 12:48am

Legislation by a State Senator from the South Coast to honor the military’s Purple Heart winners has reached a key milestone.

Democratic Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson authored SCR 27, which calls for designating parts of the 101 Freeway in Ventura, and Santa Barbara Counties as part of the National Purple Heart Trail.

The idea is to commemorate those who gave their lives, or were wounded while in uniform.

The legislation has been passed by the State Senate, and is awaiting consideration by the State Assembly.
