Firefighters say a brush fire is burning out of control in the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara County, northeast of Santa Barbara.
The approximately 40 acre fire is on the Santa Ynez Valley side of San Marcos Pass.
The U.S. Forest Service’s Andrew Madsen tells KCLU some campgrounds have been ordered evacuated.
Madsen says the fire was discovered just after 2:30, in the White Rock Recreation Day Use Area.
Four air tankers are being used to fight the fire, and other local fire agencies are helping the Forest Service with firefighting efforts. Some of the units are being deployed to protect structures in the area.
As of 4 p.m., Highway 154 has been closed from Santa Barbara to the Santa Ynez Valley.
