Man Sentenced For Threatening Shooting At University In Ventura County

Posted on Friday, May 24, 2013 1:37pm

A man authorities say admitted to sending in e-mail threatening to commit a shooting at a university in Ventura County has been sentenced.

Ventura County prosecutors say Thomas Pecel agreed to a plea deal in which he will do three years on probation, and undergo mandatory mental health counseling. He’s also been ordered not to have any contact with California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, which they say he targeted in an e-mail threat.

University officials say there was never any evidence that the 30 year old transient had the means to carry out the threat.
