A Ventura County community is moving quickly to fill its second City Council vacancy in less than two months.
The Fillmore City Council is trying to fill an opening created by the unexpected resignation of Brian Sipes. He stepped down May 15th, saying that he needed to devote more time to his career.
The Council decided it will fill the vacancy by appointment, instead of a special election. The City will accept applications for the post through noon of next Wednesday, and then make a decision on the appointment at a special City Council meeting May 31st.
The term runs through November of 2014.
The Council had just gone through this process to fill another post. Earlier this month, it selected Diane McCall to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Eduardo Gonzales, who stepped down because of health issues.
