The Channel Islands are home to a rare kind of fox, which only lives on the islands.
Thanks to some man made problems, the Island Fox population was decimated in the late 1990′s, and early 2000′s, with some of the subspecies on various islands pushed close to extinction.
But, a plan to save the Island Fox has worked better than expected, with the population booming to the point where biologists say we will be able to remove them from the endangered species list.
KCLU’s Lance Orozco reports this morning from Santa Cruz Island.
