Two Ventura County Supervisors Calling On County To Get More Information From Oil, and Gas Companies On Fracking

Posted on Monday, May 20, 2013 3:49pm

Two Ventura County supervisors are calling on the county to take steps to better track the controversial oil, and gas extraction process known as fracking.

Steve Bennett and Linda Parks will ask fellow supervisors tomorrow to purse efforts to give the county a better handle on the issue.

The county hasn’t been asking if fracking will be involved in drilling. The two supervisors want to ask companies that question as a part of the permitting process. Also, they want to ask the County Counsel’s office to look at how they can address this issue with longtime drilling permit holders, some so old they currently don’t require permits for new drilling.

Fracking involves the high pressure underground injection of water, or other fluids to open the way for the extraction of trapped oil, and gas deposits.
