One City Council in Ventura County is undergoing a lot of changes. The Fillmore City Council filled one vacancy this week, but then had another surface.
On Tuesday, the council appointed Diane McCall to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Eduardo Gonzales, who stepped down because of health issues.
McCall is a property manager who’s served as a Fillmore Planning Commissioner.
Yesterday, the Council discovered it had another vacancy to fill, when Councilman Brian Sipes announced his resignation, saying he needs to focus more on his career. There is a year and a half left in Sipes’ term.
The Council now has to decide how it will handle the situation.
It can appoint someone to fill the term, hold a special election, or make a temporary appointment until a special election is held.
