Some Southern California Edison Customers In Ventura County Targeted By Scam

Some Southern California Edison customers have been the targets of a scam in Ventura County.

The scammers have been calling customers, telling them that their payments are past due, and that their service will be disconnected unless they make an immediate payment with a prepaid cash card.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Department investigators say SCE never asks for payment in that way.
They say if you receive a call of this type, you should ask for the person’s name, department, and telephone number.

If they refuse to comply, you should hang up, and report what happened to authorities.

SCE officials say they’ve received reports of the same type of scam in other parts of Southern California.
