Firefighters are hoping to fully contain the massive Springs Brush fire today, which has burned 28,000 acres of brush in Ventura County.
The fire is now 75% contained. A mild storm system which moved into the region yesterday helped lower temperatures, and raise the humidity, even though rainfall amounts were light.
Cal State Channel Islands reopened last night, with the fire threat passing for the campus.
The County Fire Department’s command staff began releasing some of the 1800 plus firefighters working the blaze, although a substantial number of people are still involved in mopup efforts.
The fire damaged 15 homes, and destroyed 25 outbuildings, sheds, and vehicles.
