The South Coast’s largest arts event now has a new home, just in time for people to start work on the annual summertime event.
The Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Parade has been displaced from its permanent home on Garden Street, in downtown Santa Barbara for the last two years by a construction project.
Last year, the Solstice organization used donated space on the 500 block of Garden Street as home base for a workshop to build the costumes, and floats for the annual parade.
The Solstice organization put out a call a few weeks ago, trying to find temporary space for one more year, until it can return to its permanent home.
Now, Solstice officials say businessman Alan Macy stepped up, to donate the same space that was used last year on Garden Street.
The workshop will open to the public for the first time on May 17th. The 2013 Solstice Parade in Saturday, June 22nd.
