Authorities Looking For Man, Woman Who Led Officers On Car Chase in Santa Barbara County Before Escaping

Posted on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 5:23pm

Authorities in both Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties are looking for a man, and woman in a stolen car who led officers on a chase through the Carpinteria before escaping on foot early this morning.

A Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol around 12:30 this morning noticed a vehicle with suspicious looking license plates parked at a convenience store on the 4400 block of Via Real, in Carpinteria.

As the officer stopped to check the vehicle, the two people drove away, and ignored deputies efforts to stop the vehicle. The chase went onto the southbound 101 Freeway, and exited at Linden Avenue.

The two people abandoned the car in a residential area, and efforts to find them were unsuccessful.

Evidence found at the scene indicates the suspects may be from Ventura County, and the car had been reported stolen from Santa Paula.
