Ventura County Employee Accused Of Workers Compensation Fraud

Posted on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 3:22pm

Ventura County prosecutors are charging a county employee with workers compensation fraud, after they say she accepted disability payments for what she claimed was a work related injury, but then was caught on video lifting heavy objects like an automobile wheel.

Linda Michelle Boggess is facing three counts of workers compensation fraud. Prosecutors say the 46 year old Human Services Agency employee received more than $112,000 in disability payments, and medical benefits after claiming she was injured. But, they say she was then caught on tape performing acts like using a car jack, and lifting heavy objects.

The California Department of Insurance investigated the case, leading to the criminal counts. Boggess could face more than four years behind bars if convicted to the allegations.
