The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department has issued a warning about internet scams related to the Boston Marathon bombing.
Department officials say in the hours following the bombing, hundreds of domain names were registered.
Officials say they’ve already heard of multiple fake charities being created.
The department is suggesting people give to charities they know, and trust, and avoid giving out personal, or financial information to unfamiliar organizations.
Officials say you should also avoid opening unsolicited e-mail and attachments, because they may contain viruses.
