One Home Believed Destroyed, Second Heavily Damaged By Blaze In Ventura County

Posted on Monday, April 8, 2013 6:56pm

A brush fire outside of Fillmore has gutted at least one home, heavily damaged a second, and continues to pose a threat to others in the area.

The blaze started at around 4:45, on the 1400 block of Goodenough Road. It’s just north of the City of Fillmore.

Firefighters say what they believe started as a structure fire spread to brush, and some vehicles. Much of the fire is now burning in the foothills above Goodenough Road.

More than 40 Ventura County Fire Department units are now on scene, and are having to contend with strong wind, in the 30-35 mile an hour range.

Firefighters are using helicopters to battle the blaze.

There have been some evacuations, in the area of Morris Road, and Hunter Lane.
