Posted on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 12:32pm

A top Ventura County official is unexpectedly stepping down from office.

Ventura County Auditor-Controller Christine Cohen says she’ll leave her post next month, citing undisclosed personal reasons.
Cohen’s current term runs until early 2015.

There’s no word yet on how the post will be filled.

The County could hold a special election, or appoint someone to the post until the next regular election.

Cohen is in her third term as the County’s Auditor-Controller. She’s been with the county for more than three decades.
