A project to help bring Ventura County’s hospital up to modern seismic safety standards, and modernize it at the same time hit a major milestone this week.
Ventura County supervisors approved a $216 million dollar contract to build a new wing for the Ventura County Medical Center.
The county selected Clark Design/Build of Costa Mesa to build the 120 bed complex. Company officials say they will try to meet the county’s goal of using as many local construction workers as feasible, saying more than 60% of the projected 400 workers could come from the county.
Work will begin this summer, with the project expected to take about four years to complete.
