A special community meeting is set for tonight to discuss the controversy concerning the apparent unpermitted creation of a dirt road on an undeveloped hill above the City of Ventura.
The road created by bulldozers near Mint Lane is visible throughout much of the city, and has angered nearby residents, who are worried it may lead to dangerous erosion during heavy rain.
City officials have opened an investigation, saying that while a four foot wide path to take soil samples was allowable without a grading permit, what was created was a dirt road that’s 12 feet wide in spots.
The City has ordered a halt to work on the site.
The property’s owner hasn’t been commenting on what occurred.
Dozens of upset residents spoke at last night’s Ventura City Council meeting. The special meeting to discuss the controversy will take place at 7 tonight, at Ventura City Hall.
