A 78 year old man could spend up to a year in jail, after entering a guilty plea to a hit and run charge for a traffic accident which left a Santa Barbara man dead.
Lau Van Huynh will also face three years probation for the January 15th accident.
Prosecutors say Huynh was driving southbound on the 101 Freeway through Santa Barbara at about 1 a.m., when he struck, and fatally injured Simon Chavez.
It’s still unclear as to why the 22 year old victim was on the freeway.
The CHP says Huynh failed to stop, but was tracked down and arrested two weeks later at his Murietta home.
