The controversy is continuing in one South Coast community over a dirt road which suddenly appeared on a hillside without what officials say are the necessary permits.
Grading started on the hill near Mint Lane in Ventura February 22nd, leaving what the Ventura City Attorney is calling substantial scarring, and serious potential damage.
The city has opened a criminal investigation into the grading. City officials say the property owner has the right to do soil testing as a part of developing the property, but didn’t have permits to do the substantial grading which occurred.
The city issued a stop work order, to allow it to investigation the situation further.
The action had outraged some nearby residents, who are upset over the gash that’s appeared on the hillside which towers over their homes.
